Description
Emerging from Estonia’s metal scene, Pridian is set to release their debut album, “Venetian Dark”, via Century Media Records. Defined by a modern style of energetic and atmospheric metalcore with a futuristic edge, their sound is reminiscent of genre-leading acts like Northlane, Spiritbox, and Architects. Prioritizing cinematic storytelling and a strong narrative concept in their lyrics, music, and visuals, Pridian’s songwriting approach has been about ”abandoning the ego”, says Martin. “We want to write songs, not instrument-based music alone. We could write technical stuff because we all know our instruments, but good songs, interesting structures, and good stories matter more.”
The album title “Venetian Dark” was inspired by a paint color that stuck in Jörg’s mind and slowly emerged into its final form with the overall themes of the album. The record was fully written and produced by Pridian, who put a lot of individual and collaborative effort into crafting the tracks from scratch. Tracks like "Out For Blood," "DINY," and "Void Resonance" blend chaotic, energetic riffs with EDM-style synths, crushing breakdowns, and atmospheric elements. Drawing from 2010-era metalcore, djent, and Deftones-inspired post-hardcore, Pridian even channels a Korn-like nu-metal edge, particularly on the heavy yet catchy "Darker Tides." The interlude "Synthetic Salvation" highlights the band's bold approach, as Laur states: "Some tracks are more production than song... that’s not metal, but I don’t care. It doesn’t matter to us what others say." Mixed by Matt Thomas (Kingdom Of Giants, Invent Animate), “Venetian Dark” offers a state-of-the-art production in terms of balance and modernity.
Venetian Dark is available as Standard CD Jewelcase, Ltd. transparent blue-black marbled LP, along with the digital album.
